My research has focused on family and school relationships in rural China and with immigrant families in the United States. Most recently I have explored the lives of immigrant families and early childhood and  of Asians/Asian Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With a strong background in leadership and organizational learning systems, my primary interest is in the big picture, considering how it is that systems can shift in ways that create a more equitable and just world. My research has centered on adaptive leadership, teacher efficacy, and psychologically safe learning systems.
